Background Template

From our research, a 3-Side design was common used but also was visually interesting to our taste. This layout was simple to construct as we measured the dimensions of one side of a typical digipack/album. The n furthermore giving the digipack a spine and lines for the folds.
After our digipack template was created, a background design/ colour had to be chosen. Looking back to the bands original design to maybe get some inspiration, this was sort run as the background was purple. This seems unsuited for our look which we were hoping to achieve.

A 'tea stained effect' became a more suited design as it has a slight dirty and weathered effect to it. We went for a different angle with this design as it is very different from the stereotypical metal band covers we researched similar to our genre. This furthermore, connects to the type of music the band 'Rabbit Pudding' produces as it is very different, even down to their individual tracks. Bellow is our template.

Now that we had our template, we could now apply our different ideas. We firstly tried the 'blood splatter idea. By editing imagery and using photoshop brushed, realistic blood splatters were applied. This idea was suitable as it suited the codes and conventions of our genre.

Our next idea was to add an iconography element to our design, by literally adding a rabbit pie to our design as it has a similar connection to the bands name 'Rabbit Pudding' The image on the left is lifted from google images, to see what this idea may loo like applied to our deign. The plate on the image was unsuitable and therefore edited out but furthermore, the opacity of the pie was turned down so it looked apart of the design.

Next we combined the two ideas together, from this we decided that both elements compositionally didn't fit together. From this, it was made clear that these ideas were not suitable for our design but furthermore looked tacky and unprofessional, therefore were taken out.

The idea of using the imagery of a clock face arose as the use of time was clear within our music video and could furthermore become an icon of the band. We then applied the image on the right, to our design. With a little bit of editing it became clear that this was a suitable idea within our design. We  turned the opacity down and feathered the edges of the design so the image looked apart of the background, but further more, colour burned it so the colours were similar to the background. Looking apart of the background design. The use of a traditional clock face adds to old feel of the tea stained background.
