Location

For a location(s) for our music video we considere
d many location that would be suitable the codes and conventions but also stereotypical of our genre as well. Within our genre, locations such as hospital halls and derelict buildings are use to create mystery and disturbance to suggest the history of these locations. For example in the 'Psychosocial' music video by 'Slipknot' (right) shows a derelict or maybe a burnt building within a quick clip of the video. The performance of this specific music video is within a field. This suggests loneliness and isolation from other people. This creates a enigma code as there could be others in the distance but also to establish the landscape where they might be.

Within our music video we have to think of more realistic areas that were safe but also effective in the image and felling we wanted to portray.
Firstly a derelict or burnt down Church came to mind as it could add a religious element to out music video, also quite stereotypical to other successful music videos within our genre, represented most commonly by a cross. This idea soon became not possible as the safety of going to this location. The image on the left is an actual image from the location recently after it burnt down. All the burnt wood has been cleared but still is classed unsafe.

Another idea was that of the Gange in Shotley.
This location also became a problem as it was also classed as unsafe to film in but element of the location would have been very suitable for our music video.

Next we considered Landguard Fort. The location came to light as I went there myself before hand, for another subject I study, that could be suitable for our needs for our music video. Landguard Fort is an ex military fort for such wars as Dutch War and the Cold War. After many year it was abandoned and obtained by English Heritage and no open for public use. As it is an ex military structure, may corridors and rooms had an eerie and ghostly feel to it. Due to the location being public, we could encounter members of the public which could make scenes difficult and in effect time consuming to get. This made this location idea very unreliable and costly.

Our final location which we plan to use is Hazel Woods in Bramford. This proved to be more of a practical and suitable location to film our music video. After this location was finalised, we were able to come up with different scenes we could film within different parts of the woods so that movement of the narrative can be seen. The two images (left and bellow) are just some sections of the woods we were going to film in. Furthermore this could connect very well to a contextual reference we have discussed. The being of 'Alice In Wonderland'.
